Barossa Village plans to Set New Standards with Heritage Park Precinct Funding Submission

Introducing Heritage Park Precinct Project

On Thursday, August 29th, Barossa Village officially submitted its innovative Heritage Park Precinct Project into the Australian Government’s Regional Precincts and Partnerships Program (rPPP) – Stream One funding application. This transformative project envisions the development of 100 new mixed housing options for older people in Nuriootpa, Barossa Valley, setting a new benchmark for aged care with its focus on innovation, community integration, and sustainability.

The 10-hectare precinct, including 3.5 hectares of greenfield space, will blend existing residential areas with a significant parcel of undeveloped land. It is strategically situated to connect with local schools, community facilities, and the township’s economic hub, creating a vibrant and interconnected environment. The design will emphasise dementia-friendly outcomes and aims to meet the evolving needs of the ageing population while showcasing the Barossa Valley’s renowned landscape.

“We are excited to collaborate with our partners on the Heritage Park Precinct Project, a significant step forward for Nuriootpa, highlighting the synergy among our partners. With over 60 years of service, Barossa Village continues to embody a ‘Community Caring for Community’ approach. This innovative project has the potential to meet the growing and evolving needs of our aging population whilst also fostering a vibrant, multi-generational environment. We are thrilled about the potential to create a space where individuals can thrive, connect, and belong.”

Barossa Mayor Bim Lange welcomed the project.

“It’s exciting to see Barossa Village, a private sector, not-for-profit organisation, take the initiative in developing the Heritage Park Precinct,” Mayor Lange said.

“The Barossa Council has already invested in this project, and we look forward to continuing our longstanding partnership to achieve meaningful community, socially inclusive and economic outcomes.

“We are committed to ongoing collaboration, ensuring this development brings lasting benefits to the region.”

Barossa Village’s vision for the Heritage Park Precinct is to foster a thriving, interconnected community where boundaries dissolve, allowing people to connect, thrive, grow, and belong. This project will exemplify how thoughtful planning and collaboration can create lasting, positive impacts on the local community, the region, and the future of aged care.
