Exciting Progress on Kokoda Road and Buna Terrace, Nuriootpa!

We’ve noticed many of you taking detours down Kokoda Rd and Buna Terrace to glimpse the recent demolition of two older homes. While we cherish the memories these homes held, they were no longer suitable for occupants. We’ve ensured our existing tenants have moved into newer, more comfortable homes. With the demolition complete, we’re thrilled to announce the development of five beautifully presented new homes, utilising previously underdeveloped and landlocked blocks!

Carl Helbig, our Maintenance Manager, shared,

“Those buildings served their purpose, but they don’t serve for the future. We design homes for maximum functionality and features, being mindful of the potential future needs of our community. We move away from the conventional idea of retirement villages as gated communities. Instead, we create homes that emphasise community integration and easy access.”

Ben Hall, our CEO, added,

“Barossa Village took the courageous step to acquire the 10 Buna Terrace property to unlock a small portion of land already in its ownership that was otherwise landlocked and create the potential to develop additional Independent Living Units to respond to the rising demand in our community. Barossa Village is extending its community-integrated independent living style in this development, allowing communities to truly connect and grow.”

These new homes will feature 2 or 3 bedrooms, carports, and a private access road. Ideally located close to schools, shops, and parks, they will create a space where seniors can thrive independently while enjoying community support and opportunities. We’re eagerly looking forward to sharing more updates on the progress of this exciting development and can’t wait to see these homes completed!

Fun Fact: Nearly everything collected during BCR’s demolition will be recycled and reused. This saves resources and reduces waste, making this a sustainable project. Old bricks will be crushed into rubble for new surfacing components, while bricks, stones, and other masonry may be reused in landscaping or construction projects.

Stay tuned for more updates as we transform this area!
