Growing More Than Gardens: Carina’s Story
It comes as no surprise that Barossa Village and Barossa Enterprises’ dedication to community and quality outcomes has naturally led to a purposeful collaboration, achieving tangible results for our community. Their partnership, embedded in shared values and a commitment to positive change, showcases the strength of working together.
When people and organisations unite their resources, expertise, and knowledge toward common goals, they amplify their collective strengths, resulting in greater community outcomes. Barossa Village and Barossa Enterprises exemplify this. Their collaboration goes beyond providing jobs; it focuses on building a stronger, more inclusive community.
Carina Bauer’s passion for gardening has blossomed into a fulfilling career at Barossa Village. Her story is a testament to the collaborative efforts of Barossa Village and Barossa Enterprises, which pave the way for new opportunities.
Carina’s love for gardening began when she moved to the Barossa Valley. “I really enjoy the flat landscape of the Barossa region because I like to ride my bike around town,” she shared, reflecting on the valley’s charm. “My love for gardening grew stronger when my mom and I created the gardens in our new home.” Working alongside her mother, they transformed their new home’s bare grounds into a beautiful garden. “It was thrilling to witness the garden evolve from nothing into something truly beautiful,” Carina fondly recalled. “Being outdoors is calming, and eating vegetables from our own garden is scrumptious!
At Barossa Village, Carina found more than a job—she discovered a supportive team that shares her passion for nature. Her role allows her to connect deeply with a diverse group of residents and brings her personal fulfilment. “For some reason, being outside around nature brings people together,” she observes. “Working here gives me the opportunity to hear the interesting stories of their lives,” she adds warmly, highlighting the personal growth she has experienced.
Looking to the future, Carina dreams of establishing a community garden at Barossa Village. Her vision is not just about a physical garden but about creating a space for residents to socialise and enjoy fresh produce. Her aspirations highlight the potential for growth and development in the community, all made possible through the partnership between Barossa Village and Barossa Enterprises.
Barossa Village’s CEO, Ben Hall, emphasises the value of collaboration. “The Barossa region has a long history of community caring for the community,” he shares. “Our partnership with Barossa Enterprises extends this legacy, creating purposeful connections that benefit everyone we serve.” He foresees new pathways for employment, readiness, and social support. “The benefits will continue to grow, as they have for Carina and others,” he concludes, highlighting the partnership’s benefits.
Denni Mansfield, Barossa Enterprises’ Engagement Consultant, worked with Carina through their School Leaver Employment Supports program. “Strong communities coming together to create opportunities is what effective employment support is all about,” said Barossa Enterprises, CEO Garry Velt. “We recognise Barossa Village’s commitment to this and they were an obvious partner to help us support Carina into a job,” said Garry.
Carina’s journey showcases the broader impact of the partnership between Barossa Village and Barossa Enterprises. This collaboration celebrates inclusivity and fosters new opportunities, allowing the community to thrive. We wish Carina all the best and cheer her on her journey, knowing that this partnership will continue to create positive outcomes for many more individuals in the future.
